Hello!
I hope everyone is having a good weekend so far. I have managed some lovely reading today and I am very close to finishing my first buddy read of the year.
I had one book arrive this week which was a book that I preordered last year. I love getting preordered books because I forget that I order the books and it is always a nice surprise when they arrive in the post. It is just like a surprise gift to myself!
My new book this week is by an auto buy author for me.
This is definitely going to the top of my TBR pile!

Hello!
I hope everyone is having a good weekend so far. This week I realised I had a cash back voucher for a Kindle purchase so obviously that led to me buying a Kindle book and I also had a very important book preordered that arrived on Tuesday.
Kindle Book
I used to be a member of Pottermore and I really enjoyed finding out extra details about the world of Harry Potter so I’m looking forward to having all the facts from Pottermore in one book.
Waterstones Book
I have just finished reading Iron Flame so I really looking forward to reading this next.

Hello!
I hope everyone is having a good weekend so far. I haven’t managed much reading today but I have managed a lovely walk and got a few jobs complete around the house.
I have recently finished book two of Her Majesty Investigates series and wanted to move on to book three but discovered that I owned book four but not book three. This obviously meant a little book shopping and as I had a few books to preorder I thought I would add it to the order.
Only one book bought this week.
I’m hoping to read this book in February as I can’t wait to get reading the series again.

Hello!
I took advantage of the Waterstones Black Friday deals and over the last few days the orders have been arriving. A lot of the books are presents but I did buy a few for myself. So here are the ones which have arrived and are for me.
Every year a get a different edition of The Nutcracker to read and this is the edition I have chosen for this year. My husband wants to read it as well this year because we went to see the ballet which was amazing but he has never read the book.
I have read a few of Miranda Hart’s books and some I have loved and some I have struggled with. I am really hoping this will be one of the ones I love because I love Miranda Hart and how down to earth and real she is.
I still have a few books left to arrive so watch this space for another update!

Hello!
I was rather naughty this week and went book shopping. I did however have a book voucher so I had the perfect excuse. My local independent local bookshop has a brilliant loyalty scheme where if you collect ten stamps you get a £10 voucher. I had a voucher so I thought it was high time to spend it.
I love the poetry books compiled by Allie Esiri so I was really pleased to see there is one for Christmas. I’m looking forward to starting this on the 1st December.
I’ve always been interested by Catherine De’ Medici but don’t know much about her so I was quite excited to see this book by Mary Hollingsworth on the bookshelves. There was only one copy and apparently it had literally only just been put on the shelves that day so I was quite pleased to have gone in just at the right time.

Hello!
I hope everyone is having a nice weekend so far. I have had a busy day doing jobs around the house and work on the library continues.
I haven’t done much book buying recently as I am trying to read the books I already have piled up everywhere but I have been reading House of Odysseus by Claire North and realised I hadn’t got the third book in the series yet. So obviously when I went to Worcester Waterstones I had to buy myself a copy. I also bought a couple of books when I visited Belton Estate.
I have the first National Trust On Screen book and really found it interesting so I was very excited to find there was a second one.
I am currently doing a mini course on Art History so when I found this enormous book in the second hand book shop in perfect condition for just £8.50 I knew I had to get it.

Hello!
So the restricted book buying has completely gone out of the window this month which is worrying as we are still at the beginning of the month. However, I have been in Bath and that is always fatal as Bath has some of my favourite bookshops.
First up are the books I bought at Persephone Books.
I am completely obsessed with Dorothy Whipple so I was determined to get more of her books from the Persephone book collection.
They Knew Mr Knight by Dorothy Whipple
Greenbanks by Dorothy Whipple
They Were Sisters by Dorothy Whipple
Books from Waterstones
The Three-Body Problem by Cicin Liu – My husband really wants to read this book but we could not get a copy as every bookshop seemed to have sold out. However, after ducking into Waterstones to avoid the rain we managed to get a copy. I also plan on reading it once my husband has read it.
Song of the Huntress by Lucy Holland – I quite enjoyed Sistersong so I thought I would give Holland’s next book a read as well.
Mr B’s Emporium
What the Greeks Did for Us by Tony Spawforth – I love anything to do with Ancient Greek’s so when I spied this book I knew it was a book I needed to read.
The Book of Days by Francesca Kay – I haven’t read anything by Francesca Kay but this book looked interesting so I thought I would give it a read.
Life, Death and Disease in the Middle Ages and Beyond by Professor Alice Roberts – I wrote quite a few essays on ancient diseases and death practices in Ancient Greece and Rome so I’m quite interested to see what they were like in the Middle Ages.
Topping and Company Booksellers
Queens of the Crusades by Alison Weir – I love Alison Weir and I am always on the hunt for books that I haven’t read yet so I was quite excited when I spotted this.
Adam Bede by George Eliot – I am trying to read all of George Eliot’s published works and this one is on my list to read next.
Dying of the Light by George R. R. Martin – I am really enjoying Martin’s sci-fi books so far so I am quite excited to read this next.
Tuf Voyaging by George R. R. Martin – Another Martin book to read.
The Book Forger by Jospeh Hone – This was actually my husband’s choice but I fully intend to read it as well.
I have one more week left off from teaching so I hope I might get a lot more reading done and I might tackle some of my new books.
So I thought it was time for an update of what I have been up to recently.
Birthday
Last week was my birthday and although I was teaching all day I did still have a lovely day. My husband cooked dinner and made me a few cocktails and then I had some presents to open. The following day I went out for a meal and also had one or two cocktails.
Hay on Wye
We went for a little holiday this week as it was half term and we chose Hay on Wye. I will be honest I was in my element and bought so many books. I also played a lot of Pokemon Go and completed loads of tasks that had been sat waiting for what seems like forever. I came home with three canvas bags full of books. Half of one of the bags were books that my husband had chosen but the rest were mine. It was so nice to get away for a break and just relax. The picture of the book stack contains the books bought from the first day. My favourite bookshop was Richard Booth.
Latin Lessons
I’m also half way through my first term of Latin lessons with City Lit. I’m really enjoying the translation tasks and although I’m finding it tricky I am slowly starting to get the hang of it.
The rest of the time has been the usual suspects of work and instrument practice and of course reading.
Happy Reading
