This and That Thursday

Hello!

I thought it was time for a post about all my activities that are not book related. Work has been back in full force after a lovely week off for half term. This has meant loads of teaching and organ playing. I have also been really busy with my Etsy which has been wonderful. October was my best month yet for my Etsy and I’m hoping it continues.

Walks

We have got back into our walking again and have been trying to go to different places for our walks. It has been nice to get out and about again and so I have also started playing Pokemon Go again and working on my Conqueror Challenge to Mordor again.

Afternoon Tea

For Christmas 2023 my parents gave my husband and myself a voucher for afternoon tea at Brokencote Hall and we finally got around to going. It was quite funny because my brother had also had a voucher and entirely by accident we ended up going on the same day and virtually the same time. I have never been to Brokencote Hall before but I absolutely loved the building and the afternoon tea.

RAF Museum Midlands

We love visiting Cosford so we decided to go for a visit because we haven’t been this year. I must admit I’m not so keen on some of the changes they have made recently especially because this means some of my favourite planes are no longer on display. I really hope my favourite planes return one day. I did have fun trying to find all the yellow planes.

Worcester

The building work continues on the house but thankfully the end is in sight. Due to being stuck at home for most of the summer we have been trying to leave the house more and so last week we decided to go for a wonder around Worcester and a nice lunch out. I did also end up buying quite a few books which I will post about on Saturday.

Webbs of Wychbold

Every year at around this time we go Christmas shopping at Webbs of Wychbold. I love Webbs at Christmas because the displays are always excellent and they have so many amazing decorations. We always end up buying quite a lot of decorations and this year was no exception. I can’t wait to get decorating the house for Christmas now. I also went a little bit crazy in Hobbycraft.

So there are my recent adventures. We are always quite busy on the run up to Christmas as we are both musicians but we hope to fit a few more in before Christmas.

This and That Thursday

Hello

Over the last few weeks we have been trying to get some adventures in before Christmas. Christmas is always a busy time for us work wise so it is always nice to have a little break before the madness starts.

Lantern Show

We went to a lantern show near us which was absolutely amazing and great fun.

Carol Train

We went with family on a steam train for a Christmas evening which involved carol singing, mulled wine, Christmas decorations and festive fun. It was really nice to spend time with family and I love going on a steam train.

Bath

We usually go to Bath over the New Year but because of work commitments it wasn’t possible this time so we went this week instead. I love Bath and I really missed not going last year. I was really happy to visit Toppings’ new location and to visit the new Persephone Books that has opened. I also visited Mr B’s Emporium which has really changed since we last saw it. It wasn’t all bookshops though, we also went to the Rossetti exhibition at the Holburne Museum and the Fashion Museum in the Assembly Rooms. I really did not want to leave but I have a big list of places I want to visit next.

The rest of our time has been taken up with Christmas decorations and work. Here are a few snaps of the Christmas decorations.

This and That Thursday

Hello!

I haven’t done a This and That Thursday for a while so I thought I would do one this week.

The studying and teaching is still going and this week I was really pleased to find out my two students who had completed their music exams at the beginning of the month had passed with a merit and a distinction. In these difficult times where their lessons have been online via Zoom since March it was an excellent result.

So here is what I have also been up to…

Christmas

Yes, we have been getting the house ready for Christmas. I love decorating the house for Christmas and I would have a Christmas tree in every room but my husband reigns me in so I just have 3 instead. Here are a few snaps of the house so far as it isn’t finished yet.

Walking

The walking continues, we have been sticking to local walks recently and only averaging 1.5 miles but I always struggle at this time of the year with my asthma.

Fitness

I’ve got back into my fitness again and have been enjoying my regular workouts on my exercise bike and doing some strength training. I have also come to realise that I really hate ab work on the floor so I have been trying out some standing ab workouts and have found I much prefer them and the aching I feel the next day shows that they must be doing me some good. I also treated myself to some Christmas leggings for my workouts through December.

So there is my week. I hope everyone is having a good week so far and managing to stay safe in these weird times.

Happy Reading

Happy Christmas!

HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

I hope everyone has a wonderful day today and you all get some wonderful bookish gifts.

I leave you with a carol that is always sang on Christmas morning.

O Come, All Ye Faithful

O come, all ye faithful,

Joyful and triumphant,

Come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem;

Come and behold Him,

Born the King of angels:

O come, let us adore Him,

O come, let us adore Him,

O come, let us adore Him,

Christ the Lord!

God of God,

Light of light,

Lo! He abhors not the Virgin’s womb;

Very God,

Begotten, not created:

O come, let us adore Him…

Sing, choirs of angels,

Sing in exultation,

Sing, all ye citizens of heaven above;

Glory to God

In the highest:

O come, let us adore Him…

Yea, Lord, we greet Thee,

Born this happy morning;

Jesus, to Thee be glory given;

Word of the Father,

Now in flesh appearing:

O come, let us adore Him…
