This and That Thursday

Hello!

Welcome to my first This and That Thursday of 2024.

I will be honest I have been rather hectic with work so have had less adventure time. I am now teaching at three different schools as well as teaching from home and doing playing work but I can’t complain as it helps me do the things I love, oh and pay the bills.

Walking and Pokemon Go

During 2023 my walking really took a hit so my husband and I have decided to really make an effort and get back into our walking again. This has also meant I am playing more Pokemon Go. I am in a bit of a competition with my sister-in-law with Pokemon Go but sadly she has really pulled ahead due to my lack of movement and playing. However, I am determined to catch up again! If anybody would like to add me as a friend my friend code is 6008 1727 2520.

National Trust

We have managed a few of National Trust properties so far this year. We went to one of my favourites in the New Year to see their Christmas displays before they took it all down. Berrington Hall does one of my favourite Christmas displays and they never disappoint. We have also been to Hanbury Hall which we haven’t been to for many years. I had forgotten just what a beautiful property it was and what beautiful gardens it has. This week we went to Benthall Hall which also included a lovely walk and a trip into Much Wenlock for lunch.

Etsy

I am still running my little Etsy business and I am absolutely loving it. The TBR Tickets are proving very popular and keeping me busy. I just love creating new bookmarks and coming up with new products for my fellow book lovers.

So there are a few things I have been up to. I am really hoping for more walks and more adventures soon, I just wish it would stop raining!

This and That Thursday

Hello!

So I thought it was time for an update of what I have been up to recently.

Birthday

Last week was my birthday and although I was teaching all day I did still have a lovely day. My husband cooked dinner and made me a few cocktails and then I had some presents to open. The following day I went out for a meal and also had one or two cocktails.

Hay on Wye

We went for a little holiday this week as it was half term and we chose Hay on Wye. I will be honest I was in my element and bought so many books. I also played a lot of Pokemon Go and completed loads of tasks that had been sat waiting for what seems like forever. I came home with three canvas bags full of books. Half of one of the bags were books that my husband had chosen but the rest were mine. It was so nice to get away for a break and just relax. The picture of the book stack contains the books bought from the first day. My favourite bookshop was Richard Booth.

Latin Lessons

I’m also half way through my first term of Latin lessons with City Lit. I’m really enjoying the translation tasks and although I’m finding it tricky I am slowly starting to get the hang of it.

The rest of the time has been the usual suspects of work and instrument practice and of course reading.

Happy Reading

This and That Thursday

Happy Thursday!

I hope everyone is having a good week so far. I have been up to my usual activities this week.

Walking

This week we have been up to some more walks and we ventured to a National Trust walk for the first time since lockdown. It was really nice to go somewhere different this week and thankfully it wasn’t too busy. Also I am still playing Pokemon Go and hatching lots of eggs with all the walking.

Gardening

This week we have been trying to fight the ever increasing battle with the weeds and we have also trimmed a few of the hedges. The weeds sadly are not taking the hint they are not welcome. Here are a few snaps from the garden.

Music

This week I have been working a lot on my ukulele playing and have really been enjoying learning Ziggy Stardust.

Cooking

We also tried a new recipe this week from Davina McCall’s Fakeaway recipes. I am still self shielding so we are trying some new recipes to simulate eating out. It was a very yummy recipe.

Lord of the Rings

We have also started watching the Lord of the Rings trilogy and I am thoroughly enjoying it. I just love the films and they were what started my Tolkien obsession.

That is my week so far. I hope everyone is having a good week.

This and That Thursday

Hello!

This has been another good week of reading and other activities. So here is what I have been up to…

Walk and Pokemon Go playing

We have been going on our daily walks and saying hello to the sheep and I have been playing Pokemon Go.

Jigsaws

I finally finished the one jigsaw and I have started another jigsaw but this one is a mystery as it is a Sherlock Holmes jigsaw so you don’t see the picture and all the items in the jigsaw are attached to the mystery.

Ukulele

The Ukulele is going well and I have started working on Grade One. Hopefully exams will recommence at some point this year.

Baking

I had a go at a chocolate torte this week which is a new recipe for me, sadly it caught on the one side but I am slowly getting used to baking in the AGA. Going to try another new recipe next week.

Movie Night

We have done our best to recreate the cinema experience and have watched two films with popcorn and chocolates. Emma was a really good adaptation and we did enjoy a good laugh.

I’ve also done loads of reading!

So that is my week. I hope everyone has had a good week.
