I had two preordered books delivered this week and I can’t wait to get reading them.

No Friend to this House by Natalie Haynes – Haynes is one of my favourite authors and an auto buy author for me so I am very excited to read this.
Among The Burning Flowers by Samantha Shannon – I love this series so I am excited to read this book. I can’t believe how small it is though!

I hope everyone is having a good weekend so far. I’ve managed some reading today which has been lovely. I had two books arrive this week that I had preordered ages ago.

Medusa by Rosie Hewlett – I’m really excited to read this version of Medusa’s story. I always find the story of Medusa a hard story to read because she was a very wronged woman.
The Stolen Crown by Tracy Borman – I am a huge fan of Tracy Borman and can’t wait to read her latest book.

Happy Weekend Everyone!

This week I went to visit Ironbridge so that obviously meant a visit to Ironbridge Bookshop. The bookshop has recently extended and I was very excited to see how they had changed the shop. I absolutely loved the new layout and loved the extra space in the shop. I obviously bought myself a few books whilst there.

New Books

A Brief Guide to the Greek Myths by Stephen Kershaw
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum
Tender is the Night by F. Scott Fitzgerald

I’m very excited to read these books. I have only read The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald so I’m looking forward to reading more of his work.

Hello!

I had one preordered book arrive this week and I also bought a new kindle book as I am absolutely hooked on a new series.

Waterstones Book

I’m really excited to read this because I love the books by Alison Weir. I will also be taking this book to hopefully be signed by Alison Weir when I go to a history talk in July.

Kindle Book

I am just over half way through the first book of this series and I can’t put it down so I really wanted the next book ready to read.

Waterstones Challenge: Jersey – St Helier

Hello!

Last week I was in Jersey so this obviously meant I needed to visit the Waterstones at St Helier. I haven’t done much of my Waterstones Challenge recently but when I can I always visit a new store.

This store was very nice inside although it did have a very noisy floor. The store was over two floors and had a good selection of books. I was very well behaved though and only bought one book because I had limited luggage space.

Whenever I go to a book store I look for a book that I haven’t read by Alison Weir. There was a very limited selection of books by Weir but this one I haven’t read or own so I chose this one.

Another Waterstones ticked off the list many many more to go!

Hello!

Only one book purchased this week and it was prep for our holiday. We always like to get a book about our planned destination so we can plan our trip and learn more about the place. The books are also nice little reminders of the places we have visited.

So here is our next holiday destination! We have never been before and we are both very excited to visit. This little book is smaller than expected but it is packed full of useful information and historical facts and is helping us plan what we want to do whilst in Jersey.

Hello!

I had another preordered book delivery this week. I will be honest I had completely forgotten just how many books I had preordered last year!

This one is another by a favourite author and the fourth book of a series I really must start reading soon!

I am determined to start The Bone Season this month and get cracking with this series.

Hello!

My plan to buy less books in 2025 is really not going well so far. There are just so many good books out there!

My two latest purchases are:

Nephthys by Rachel Louise Driscoll is a book I spotted on Bookstagram and really liked the look of so I popped it on preorder and it arrived this week. I really hope it won’t disappoint.

The Mask Falling by Samantha Shannon is purely because I want the set all in hard back. I hate having a mix of hard backs and paperbacks in a series. It really upsets my OCD!

Hello!

I hope everyone is having a good weekend so far. This week I realised I had a cash back voucher for a Kindle purchase so obviously that led to me buying a Kindle book and I also had a very important book preordered that arrived on Tuesday.

I used to be a member of Pottermore and I really enjoyed finding out extra details about the world of Harry Potter so I’m looking forward to having all the facts from Pottermore in one book.

Waterstones Book

I have just finished reading Iron Flame so I really looking forward to reading this next.

Stacking the Shelves: 18/1/2025

Hello!

I hope everyone is having a good weekend so far. I haven’t managed much reading today but I have managed a lovely walk and got a few jobs complete around the house.

I have recently finished book two of Her Majesty Investigates series and wanted to move on to book three but discovered that I owned book four but not book three. This obviously meant a little book shopping and as I had a few books to preorder I thought I would add it to the order.

Only one book bought this week.

I’m hoping to read this book in February as I can’t wait to get reading the series again.
