Hello!

I remembered what day it is! The days between Christmas and New Year are always a little hazy to work out but today I realised it was Wednesday so I thought I would do a WWW Wednesday.

What I am Currently Reading

I just started this last night and I am really enjoying the illustrations. I do love reading Harry Potter books so this is a nice book to finish the year with.

What I have Recently Finished Reading

I haven’t done much reading over the Christmas period so this is the only book I have finished.

What I Think I will Read Next

I have so many books that I want to read in 2022 and I have a lot of book series I want to start and finish. My biggest problem is trying to work out what to read and when.

Please drop me a comment with your WWW Wednesday and I will head over for a visit.

Happy Reading

Hello!

I hope everyone is having a good week and that everyone is prepared for Christmas. I still have presents to wrap and the house is still chaos but hopefully now I have finished teaching I will be able to get everything ready.

What I am Currently Reading

Just started this today. I always read The Nutcracker on the run up to Christmas and I am really looking forward to reading this edition.

What I have Recently Finished Reading

I forgot how much I love A Christmas Carol. I think 2022 I will be reading more Dickens because I really do enjoy his work.

What I Think I will Read Next

I am still on my Christmas reading list as I am really enjoying all the festive reads.

Please drop me a comment with your WWW Wednesday and I will head over for a visit.

Happy Wednesday!

I started my Christmas TBR today and I must admit I am getting rather excited about all the festive reads I have planned.

What I am Currently Reading

I’m still plodding along with SPQR but I am hoping to finish it before the end of the year. I started Christmas with the Teashop Girls on my lunch break today and so far so good.

What I have Recently Finished Reading

I usually really enjoy books by Jeffrey Archer but I will be honest I was rather disappointed with this read.

What I Think I will Read Next

Lots of Christmas reads to finish this December.

Top 5 Tuesday: Books I Haven’t Read Yet in 2021

Top 5 Tuesday was created by Shanah at Bionic Book Worm, and now being hosted by Meeghan reads.

Hello!

I have not taken part in Top 5 Tuesday for months and months! I’m not sure why as I really love reading everyone’s posts each week.

There are a lot of books I planned to read in 2021 and have not managed to but I will choose the ones that I want to read the most.

  1. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid – This has been on my TBR for so long and yet still it remains unread. I really doubt I will get it read before the end of year but I live in hope.
  2. The Night She Disappeared by Lisa Jewell – I love Lisa Jewell and was very excited when I bought this book. Hopefully I will read it soon.
  3. Something to Live For by Richard Roper – This came as one of my books from Willoughby Book Club and I will be honest it wouldn’t have been a book I would have chosen myself but after reading the blurb and the reviews I really want to read it.
  4. The Dream Weavers by Barbara Erskine – This was one I found in Waterstones and I liked the look of.
  5. Troy by Stephen Fry – I have read many different translations of Homer’s Iliad over the years so it will be interesting to see what Stephen Fry has done with this wonderful classic.

Hello

I hope everyone has had a good week so far. I have been enjoying my reading and I will be honest I have already started listening to some Christmas music. I just couldn’t resist it any longer.

What I am Currently Reading

I haven’t read any Jeffrey Archer for a couple of years and I have forgotten just how much I enjoy his writing. SPQR is coming along, slow and steady is how I am reading it.

What I have Recently Finished Reading

Another Christie that I absolutely loved! Review

What I Think I will Read Next

I will be honest I am desperate to start some Christmas books so I might break my rule of no Christmas books till the 1st December and start next week.

Please drop me a comment with your WWW Wednesday and I will head over for a visit.

Hello!

I hope everyone is having a good week so far. I am enjoying my week off so far and have loved meeting friends that I haven’t seen since before covid.

My reading has gone a bit crazy this week, usually I am a one book at a time person but currently I have three books going, which is most unlike me.

Here is my WWW Wednesday!

What I am Currently Reading

The Book Lover’s Bucket List is my dip in book and I absolutely love it. I am building a lovely little list of all the places I desperately want to visit. I am still plodding on with Sistersong and although it isn’t blowing my socks off I am enjoying it but I do find my attention wavering when reading it. I started Death of Darkness over the weekend and I am thoroughly enjoying it and I am wondering why I have put off reading it for so long. Death of Darkness is a kindle book though, so I have slightly deviated from my plan of only reading hardback books this month.

What I have Recently Finished Reading

I spent a lovely afternoon yesterday reading books with my best friends son and these were my two favourites. Due to a busy week dissertation writing these are the only books I have finished this week.

What I Think I will Read Next

I am still only trying to read hardbacks this month and I might continue next month as well because I do have a lot of hardback books to read.

There is my week.

Please drop me a message with your WWW Wednesday and I will head over for a visit.

Hello!

I hope everyone is having a good week so far.

So here is how my week has been going.

What I am Currently Reading

I’ve just started reading Sistersong and I must admit I am struggling to get into it at the moment but I will keep going.

What I have Recently Finished Reading

I really did not get on well with The Man in the Brown Suit (review) and to be honest it almost put me into a reading slump. Thankfully, Mrs England (review) was amazing and got me out of the reading slump.

What I Think I will Read Next

This month I am only reading hardback books so that will limit my selection and hopefully help me to choose what to read next.

Please drop me a comment with your WWW Wednesday and I will head over for a visit.

Hello!

I hope everyone is having a good week so far. It has been another busy week so far for me but I have managed to get some reading in as well.

What I am Currently Reading

I just started this yesterday and I am hooked!

What I Have Recently Finished Reading

I absolutely loved this! Review will follow soon.

What I Think I will Read Next

As usual I am never sure what I will read next but it will be possibly one of these.

Hello!

I hope everyone is having a good week so far. I seem to have been quite busy this week so far which has has sadly meant less reading.

What I am Currently Reading

Still reading this and still enjoying it. I just wish I had more time to read it.

What I Have Recently Finished Reading

I read this whilst my husband was watching the Grand Prix and I think this will be a new tradition for me. Reading a Maigret book whilst the Grand Prix is on should help my Goodreads Challenge. Review will follow shortly.

What I Think I will Read Next

As usual I’m never sure what I will read next but maybe it will be one of these.

Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag 2021

I have never taken part in this tag before so I thought it was high time I took part.

So here we go…

Best book you’ve read so far in 2021

I really couldn’t put this book down and absolutely loved every part of it and can’t wait to read the next one in the series. The characters and the setting are just fantastic.

Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2021

I have been loving all of the Six Tudor Queen series but this was fantastic and I could not put it down.

New release you haven’t read yet, but want to

I got this on the day it came out and I have still not read it and I’m annoyed with myself for not reading it yet as I really want to. I should really make this my next read.

Most anticipated release for the second half of the year

Hard to choose just one but here it is.

This is a new author for me but I really like the sound of this book so I have it preordered.

Biggest disappointment

I was so excited to read this after reading such good reviews about it but I found it very disappointing. It just didn’t speak to me and I found it rather flat. Considering the book was called Hamnet it was more about William Shakespeare’s marriage than anything.

Biggest surprise

I saw a review of this and decided to give it a go and I was not disappointed and loved it. I read it in one sitting and it was a huge surprise because I did not expect the storyline or such a psychotic computer with an obsession with recommending playlists.

Favourite new author (debut or new to you)

I absolutely loved this book and found the fact the story was told from Ariadne’s point of view very refreshing. It is always nice to hear an Ancient Greek myth told from a different point of view other than the arrogant male heroes we are so used to.

Newest fictional crush

I don’t usually develop fictional crushes so I have chosen a character who I really liked instead. Kol from These Violent Nights was a wonderful character and one you would love to have as a friend. He is caring, patient, loving and kind beyond measure.

Newest favourite character

Two favourite characters so far this year and that is Detective Maigret who just makes me laugh so much. Maigret builds a case up putting all the little bits of evidence together like a jigsaw until he finds the culprit. He is also a functioning alcoholic who quite often has a cold.

My second favourite character is Amos from The Expanse series. Amos is violent, volatile and completely nuts but he is also fiercely loyal and will support his friends without even blinking an eye even if it means certain death.

Book that made you cry

No book has made me cry so far this year.

Book that made you happy

Hmm… tricky as all books tend to make me happy. The one which has really made me smile and laugh out loud though would be Die Standing. Georgiou is hilarious and quite scary at times and her character along with Sean is just brilliant and a laugh a minute.

The most beautiful book you’ve bought so far this year (or received)

The picture of this book really does not do it justice. I love this book because it is the most beautiful colour and my favourite colour. I also love the portrait of Katharine Parr inside the cover.

What books do you need to read by the end of the year?

The last book of The Expanse series comes out this year and I would to read all the series this year and the last book if possible. However, they are very big books and I am only on book 4.

Favourite book to movie adaptation you’ve seen this year?

Sadly I haven’t seen any so far this year. Hopefully this will change soon.

So there is my Mid-Year Book Freak Out post. Please drop me comment if you have also taken part and I will head over for a visit.
