Happy Wednesday!
I have spent the day finishing another assignment and now it has finally been handed in I intend to spend the next couple of days doing lots of fun reading until I start on the next one. However, I also need to catch up on house work so that might also have to happen.
What I am Currently Reading
I struggled to get into this initially but now I am hooked.

Happy Wednesday!
I hope everyone is having a good week so far. I have been thoroughly getting into my research for my dissertation and I have finally started to get a plan worked out. I have also been trying to control our overgrown garden with varied results.
What I am Currently Reading
I started this yesterday and I am already nearly finished it. I do love the Maigret books. We have been watching the Maigret series with Rowan Atkinson playing Maigret this week, I just wish there were more episodes than four.
What I Have Recently Finished Reading
This is my favourite book of 2021 so far! Click the photo for the review.

What I Have Recently Finished Reading
Absolutely loved this and I am rather sorry that the Six Tudor Queens series has now come to end. Click the picture for the review.

First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?
Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
Finally… reveal the book!
Hello!
I haven’t done one of these for ages so I thought it was high time I took part again.
So here are the opening lines of the book. Remember the answer is below the cats.
No mortal alive had ever seen a Spindle.
Echoes of them lingered, in places remembered or forgotten, in people touched by magic, in creatures descendant of other realms. But no Spindle had burned in an age. The last of them was a thousand years gone. The passages closed, the gates locked. The age of crossing ended.
Get guessing!
Have you guessed the answer?
And the answer is???
A strange darkness grows in Allward.
Even Corayne an-Amarat can feel it, tucked away in her small town at the edge of the sea.
She soon discovers the truth: She is the last of an ancient lineage—and the last hope to save the world from destruction. But she won’t be alone. Even as darkness falls, she is joined by a band of unlikely companions:
A squire, forced to choose between home and honor. An immortal, avenging a broken promise. An assassin, exiled and bloodthirsty. An ancient sorceress, whose riddles hide an eerie foresight. A forger with a secret past. A bounty hunter with a score to settle.
Together they stand against a vicious opponent, invincible and determined to burn all kingdoms to ash, and an army unlike anything the realm has ever witnessed.
Please drop me a comment with your First Lines Friday and will head over for a visit.
Happy Reading.

Hello!
I’ve so far had a really good week reading. I even read for half an hour whilst on my exercise bike, I’m not sure how much effort I put into the pedalling but my FitBit said I had burned some calories.
What I am Currently Reading
For the first time in ages I am reading two books at the same time. I made the mistake of reading the first chapter of The Women of Troy when I downloaded it onto my iPad and now I can’t put it down. I also wrote an assignment last year on Helen of Troy and so I was intrigued about the book. Ariadne is also fantastic.
What I Have Recently Finished Reading
This book had some lovely characters in and some real comedy moments. Review
What I Think I will Read Next
Any one of these will be my next read I think.
So there is my week in books.
Please drop me comment if you want to chat about any of the books. Also please drop me a comment with your WWW Wednesday and I will head over for a visit.

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish and now hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. For more info please check out Jana’s blog.
Hello!
I haven’t taken part in Top Ten Tuesday for quite a long time so I thought it was high time I joined in.
So here are my ten most recent reads. I will include a link to the reviews as well.
I loved the characters in this book but I will be honest I did get a little bored with the story. I will give Osman’s second book a read though when it comes out.
This is the second book in the Shardlake series and I could not put it down. I loved seeing how Shardlake gathered all the clues and worked out who the suspects were.
My first Tommy and Tuppence book. I enjoyed this but it didn’t have Christie’s usual flare but I suspect that is because it was one of her early books.

Hello!
It feels so good to be doing this post again. I missed last week as I had no new book info to announce and I must admit I really missed taking part in my favourite meme! I did enjoy reading everybody else’s WWW Wednesday posts though.
So here we go…
What I am Currently Reading
I have started reading The Calame Report from this set and I am really enjoying it, not just because reading this book could be an excellent drinking game. Every time Maigret has an alcoholic drink you also have one to match and I doubt many of us could keep up!
What I have Recently Finished Reading
I loved this book and simply couldn’t put it down. My review is here.
What I Think I will Read Next
As per usual I am never sure, it might be one of these and it might be something completely different.
Please drop me a comment with your WWW Wednesday and I will head over for a visit.
