Goodreads Monday is now hosted by Budget Tales Book Club.  All you have to do is show off a book from your TBR that you’re looking forward to reading.

Hello!

I hope everyone has had a good start to the week. I have decided to have a look through of what is actually on my Kindle. I much prefer physical books to my Kindle but I’ve always used my Kindle for holidays and so I have collected quite a few books on there which I haven’t read yet or forgotten about.

Belgravia by Julian Fellowes

On the evening of 15 June 1815, the great and the good of British society have gathered in Brussels at what is to become one of the most tragic parties in history – the Duchess of Richmond’s ball. For this is the eve of the Battle of Waterloo, and many of the handsome young men attending the ball will find themselves, the very next day, on the battlefield.
For Sophia Trenchard, the young and beautiful daughter of Wellington’s chief supplier, this night will change everything. But it is only twenty-five years later, when the upwardly mobile Trenchards move into the fashionable new area of Belgravia, that the true repercussions of that moment will be felt. For in this new world, where the aristocracy rub shoulders with the emerging nouveau riche, there are those who would prefer the secrets of the past to remain buried…

Hello!

I hope everyone has had a good start to the week. I have had a busy day of teaching and making up Etsy orders. A customer selected the Book a Month order and I always love selecting and wrapping up the books for my customer to enjoy.

One of my favourite authors is Philip K. Dick and I am trying to read all of his books. This is one that I recently purchased and is now very near the top of my TBR.

The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch by Philip K. Dick

In the overcrowded world and cramped space colonies of the late 21st century, tedium can be endured through the drug Can-D, which enables users to inhabit a shared illusory world. When industrialist Palmer Eldritch returns from an interstellar trip, he brings with him a new drug, Chew-Z. It is far more potent than Can-D, but threatens to plunge the world into a permanent state of drugged illusion controlled by the mysterious Eldritch.

March 2025 TBR

Hello!

I hope everyone is having a good week so far. I have had a fab day of reading, walking and relaxing which is just what I wanted after a very busy day and evening yesterday.

My February TBR consisted of 5 books and I managed to read 2 of them but they were both very long books so I was quite pleased with how well I managed.

I am putting some smaller books on my March TBR as February contained mainly big books.

I know a couple of these books are bigger but I am hoping I will manage at least 3 of my planned reads.

Hello!

I hope everyone has had a good start to the week. I have had a full day of teaching and Etsy order making but I have also managed some reading which has been nice.

My chosen book to feature this week is one that has been sat on my TBR pile for quite a long time but has recently surfaced and reminded me I own it and haven’t read it yet.

Dreamcatcher by Stephen King

Once upon a time, in Derry, Maine, four young boys stood together and did a brave thing; something that changed them in ways they hardly understood. 25 years later, at their annual reunion, a stranger stumbles into their camp.

Hello!

I hope everyone has had a good start to the week so far. I have been back to teaching this week and it has been a super busy day. I am really looking forward to curling up with a book later.

My chosen book to feature this week is another new purchase but one that I really want to read soon.

Nephthys by Rachel Louise Driscoll

Quiet and reserved, Clemmie is happy in the background. But although her parents may overlook her talents, her ability to read hieroglyphs makes her invaluable at the Egyptian relic parties which have made her father the toast of Victorian society.

But at one such party, the words Clemmie interprets from an unusual amulet strike fear into her heart. The beautiful and dangerous glyphs she holds in her hands will change her life forever.

Five years later, Clemmie arrives in Egypt on a mission to save what remains of her family. The childhood game she used to play about the immortal sisters, Isis and Nephthys, has taken on a devastating resonance and it is only by following Nephthys’ story that she can undo the mistakes of the past. On her journey up the Nile she will meet unexpected allies and enemies and, along with long-buried secrets and betrayals, Clemmie will be forced to step into the light.

What I am Currently Reading

I am very close to finishing this now and I have really enjoyed it so far.

What I have Recently Finished Reading

I have finally finished this as my buddy read and thoroughly enjoyed it as did my friend. My review will be arriving soon.

What I Think I will Read Next

I really want to finish at least two more books before the end of the month so I will probably choose a shorter book.

Please drop me a comment with your WWW Wednesday and I will head over for a visit.

Hello!

I hope everyone has had a good start to the week. I have had a good day catching up on some jobs in the garden and getting Etsy orders sent out.

My chosen book to feature off my Goodreads TBR this week is one from one of my favourite authors, Alison Weir.

Henry VIII The Heart and the Crown by Alison Weir

Young Henry began his rule as a magnificent and chivalrous Renaissance prince who embodied every virtue. He had all the qualities to make a triumph of his rule, yet we remember only the violence. Henry famously broke with the Pope, founding the Church of England and launching a religious revolution that divided his kingdom. He beheaded two of his wives and cast aside two others. He died a suspicious, obese, disease-riddled tyrant, old before his time. His reign is remembered as one of dangerous intrigue and bloodshed—and yet the truth is far more complex.

The King’s Pleasure brings to life the idealistic monarch who expanded Parliament, founded the Royal Navy, modernised medical training, composed music and poetry, and patronized the arts. A passionate man in search of true love, he was stymied by the imperative to produce a male heir, as much a victim of circumstance as his unhappy wives. Had fate been kinder to him, the history of England would have been very different.

Here is the story of the private man. To his contemporaries, he was a great king, a legend in his own lifetime. And he left an extraordinary legacy—a modern Britain.

February 2025 TBR

Hello!

I hope everyone is having a good reading month so far. My TBR that I had planned for January didn’t go quite to plan but I did manage to read two books from my planned six books so it wasn’t a complete loss.

My chosen books to try and read this month are quite chunky so I might be biting off more than I can chew but I did manage more reading than I expected in January so I’m hoping for the same this month.

Some of these were books that I planned and failed to read in January but I am hopeful I will manage to read them this month.
