WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words.
The rules are answer the questions below and share a link to your blog in the comments section of Sam’s blog.
- What are you currently reading?
- What did you recently finish reading?
- What do you think you will read next?
Another Wednesday is here and I am really into my reading groove. Here is what I have been up to this week.
What I am Currently Reading
I am just reading this at the moment and I am loving it so far. The translation is a joy to read and the introduction by Wilson is possibly the best introduction I have ever read to a book. I have not stopped telling people about this book. Plus it is so unbelievably tactile, the pages are cut like real parchment and are thick and just amazing. Yes I know I am weird but I’m sure I’m not the only one who finds certain books wonderfully tactile, am I?
What I have Recently Finished Reading
Finished these two last week. I enjoyed The Postscript Murders but the story was just a bit ridiculous for me and certain characters annoyed me. The Summer of Madness was wonderful though and I really enjoyed it. (click the titles to go to the reviews).
What I will Read Next
The honest answer to this is I have no idea! I have so many books I want to read on my TBR pile that I just don’t know what to choose. But here are some possibles anyway.
So there is another WWW Wednesday done and dusted. Please drop me a link with your WWW Wednesday and I will head over for a visit. Please also feel free to chat about the books, I love talking all things books.
So many exciting books here. I loved The Odyssey when I read it back in college. I haven’t read this Elly Griffiths book but I have read another one by her and it was very very good. And, one day I will pick up a Star Trek book. I loved all the tv series – including Discovery – and the movies, so I can’t figure out why I’ve never picked up a Star Trek book. 🤷🏻♀️ Happy reading!

I’ve only ever read the books attached to the Discovery and Picard series and they are excellent, they really fit well to the TV episodes and give you so much more background to the characters. I love Elly Griffiths but this one I really struggled with for some reason. Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a good week.

Wow you are so brave for picking up The Odyssey! It has been on my TBR for years but I’ve always been too intimidated. I also hope you enjoy The Flatshare and the Anna of Kleve book! I’ve read both and both were enjoyable 🙂

I will be honest The Odyssey is actually part of my summer reading prep for next module of my Masters Degree but I am so pleased I am reading it as I just love. I’m looking forward to The Flatshare and Anna of Kleve. Hope you have a good week.

I definitely recommend Wolf Hall! That historical time is so interesting to me; I read A Man for All Seasons right after Wolf Hall to get conflicting viewpoints and found it to be a really fun thought exercise. Hilary Mantel does an amazing job at having you root for one side while keeping the history interesting. Happy reading!

Thanks for the recommendation will definitely have to read it soon now. It is also my favourite time for historical fiction as well. Thanks for visiting.

It’s been a while since I read The Odyssey but I remember it being one of my favorites from my ancient world literature class.

I read The Odyssey when I was at Uni and enjoyed it but I don’t think I’d have picked it up on my own if I hadn’t been studying it. I’m glad you’re enjoying it so much.
I really liked The Flatshare so can recommend that one. 🙂

I attempted to read it when I was very young and gave up but it was a terrible translation, thankfully this one is proving to be really good. Planning to read The Flatshare over the weekend all being well.

You’re not the only one that loves the little details about books 🙂 💕 I’ve only read TOS Star Trek books, but I’d love to try the new ones! But I’ve only watched two episodes of Discovery so far 😬

So glad it isn’t just me! I’ve never read any of the TOS but I’ve watched them all. I highly recommend the Discovery series!

I read The Odyssey when I was in high school and I don’t remember being a big fan of it, but maybe my opinion would change with my age. I hope you enjoy your reads!

I read a translation of The Odyssey by Robert Fagles several years ago and loved it! I wonder if I’d like this translation you’re reading better or not. Differing translators opens up a lot more possibilities for re-reading, I’m just realizing. I hope you continue to love it 🙂
