This and That Thursday

Hello!

Well this week has been full of studying, reading and Christmas shopping! Yes I have started Christmas shopping, please don’t hate me. I never usually start this early but I took advantage of the double stamps at Waterstones. I always love giving books for presents, I always find it magical.

So here is what else I have been up to.

Walking

We had a lovely walk on Tuesday after I had finished teaching in the morning. I really needed a change of scene and it was just the tonic I needed as the sun was shining and it was wonderful.

Cat Pictures

Also this week my phone decided to form a video of the recent cat photos I have taken which has made me realise just how many cat photos I am taking.

I will be honest my week has mainly involved studying and binge watching Criminal Minds. I did however get a new desk this week which was very exciting as it is yellow!

This and That Thursday

Hello!

So this week has included lots of studying again but today I also had a lovely surprise whilst visiting my mom. My sister who lives in Scotland and who I haven’t seen for two years has come down to the West Midlands because my nephew is trying to do his theory for driving a bus and he can’t get one in Scotland so they have come down to take the test and also socially distance see the family. It was wonderful to see my sister and three nephews but I must admit I did miss being able to give my sister a hug.

So here is what else I have been up to this week

Knitting

The scarf is almost done, I am not looking forward to sewing all the ends in though. I always find the sewing and sewing of ends to be the worst part of knitting. I am already planning new projects to attempt after the scarf.

Halloween Decorating

Yes, I know we aren’t quite at Halloween yet but I have already started decorating the house and Eeyore is very excited to be joining in.

Exercise

I’ve started exercising more again and I am working on my flexibility and strength. I have challenged myself to be able to do the splits at some point. Most likely it will never happen but I will be happy if I get to be a bit more flexible.

TV

We are still watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer and are now on Season 6, I really did not enjoy the musical episode we watched last night! We have also started watching Spooks which I haven’t seen for years and never actually saw the first 3 seasons.

So there is my week. I hope everyone is also having a good week.

International Teacher’s Day

Hello Everyone!

Today is International Teacher’s Day! So I wanted to wish all my fellow teachers a massive Happy International Teacher’s Day. You all deserve a massive pat on the back and a big well done especially during the chaos that is 2020.

Well done everyone and keep up the amazing work but also remember to look after yourselves as well.

This and That Thursday

Happy Thursday!

I will be honest this week has focused mainly on teaching and studying but I have enjoyed both.

So here is what else I have been up to.

Walking

Lots of walking this week which has been nice and quite exciting when we saw a low flying Chinook helicopter.

Knitting

For the first time in about two years I have started knitting again and my first project is a knitting kit of a Slytherin scarf. After a busy day studying and teaching it has been very relaxing to knit in an evening.

Jigsaw

The Jigsaw was finished this week. It was only 636 pieces but very fun to complete.

This and That Thursday

Happy Thursday!

Another busy week has gone by but still plenty of reading accomplished thankfully.

Birthday Celebration

This week was my husband’s birthday which meant a special meal of pizza and a nice bottle of bubbly.

Jigsaw

It has been a while since I have done a jigsaw but a friend of mine has given me a load of jigsaws to do so I thought I had better make a start.

Future Learn

I’m back on my future learn courses to get my brain back in gear for studying ready for my Masters that restarts in October.

Parents Garden

On Sunday I went around to my parents’ house where we watched the church service online but before the service started I went for a wander around the garden because the flowers in my parents’ garden are gorgeous so I had to take some pictures.

This and That Thursday

Happy Thursday Everyone!

Well we are well on the way to the weekend and I must admit this week has been rather busy.

Walking and Exercise

This week we have upped our walking considerably which has been lovely and has also made my Fitbit step count go through the roof. I’m also still doing my exercises and I’m really focusing on strength training so I hope it pays off soon.

Flute practice

I’ve also been doing a bit of flute playing this week and trying to get my skills up. The flute is my main instrument and the instrument that I studied at university for my degree and my masters but sadly my asthma over the years has taken its toll and I can no longer play like I used to. I’m really hoping that one day I can get back to where I once was but it will take a lot of time and will only happen if my asthma behaves. It has been fun to play though and get back into it as I really miss playing.

Weddings

On Saturday I played for two weddings which was wonderful but very strange. Everyone wearing masks and sitting two metres apart was very odd but it was so nice that the two couples could finally get married and I learnt a new piece for the occasion which was the Wedding Processional from The Sound of Music. It is always fun to learn new pieces for weddings.

The normal day to day continues and Autumn is fast approaching, I must admit I am rather looking forward to cosy fires, books, blankets and hot chocolate.

This and That Thursday

Happy Thursday!

We are approaching the weekend yay!

This week the usual antics of teaching, reading, and general chores continue but teaching is now getting busier as people who had August off return for their music lessons. I’m also still trying to sort out all my sheet music in the music room which is taking a very long time to organise.

Yummy Snacks

This week I tried a new recipe off FitOn which is Peanut Butter Chocolate Cups and they are amazing and so tasty. I will definitely be making them again as they are such a nice little treat and not too unhealthy as it is dark chocolate and peanut butter with no additives.

Walking

We have gone on some lovely walks this week and I must admit I was fascinated by this tree’s roots, hence the photo. The tree is clinging to the sand stone and you can see the roots and you can see that the tree has been there for many many years.

Music

I’m still practising ready for the weddings I’m playing for on Saturday and I must admit I am rather nervous as it has been a while since I played for a wedding. The Ukulele practice is back as I am now definitely aiming for grade 2 before Christmas but the one piece is a real ear worm so I’m constantly humming or singing it.

So a very musical week really with plenty of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Criminal Minds to relax with.

This and That Thursday

Hello!

Welcome to my week!

Cats’ Instagram

The cats’ instagram is going really well. They have nearly 100 followers and I must admit my husband and myself are enjoying posting pictures and videos of the cats possibly a little too much. The cats are not bothered in the slightest.

Online Cocktail Parties

On Friday it was my best friend’s birthday and we had planned a cocktail party but because of the current situation we had an online one. My bestie’s husband sent us cocktail making kits and we all made the same cocktails during a Facetime call and had some lovely drinks and a good laugh.

Piano Playing

I have two weddings coming up in September to play for so I have been learning some new pieces that have been requested. I have also been looking at other piano pieces for fun and really enjoying playing the piano.

Fish and Chip Picnic

On Saturday we met my family for a fish and chip picnic which was brilliant. It was so good to see my brother and sister and my parents all together after so long. Also we haven’t had fish and chips for ages and my brother had brought ice cream for pudding. It was a brilliant picnic even if it did rain on us.

Baking

I also tried a new recipe this week, chocolate banana loaf. I don’t really like bananas but this loaf is rather yummy as it is so full of chocolate.

The usual bits and pieces that happen during the week have happened but it has been wonderful to catch up with friends and family. All socially distanced of course.
