The Willoughby Book Club #8

Hello!

I hope everyone has had a good start to the week today. I have managed to get loads of studying done and some gardening so I am very pleased.

My latest book has arrived from The Willoughby Book Club and it is the first hardback book I have received from them which was even more exciting as I love a hardback book.

So here this the book.

All Andrew wants is to be normal. That’s why his coworkers believe he has the perfect wife and two children waiting at home for him after a long day. But the truth is, his life isn’t exactly as people think . . . and his little white lie is about to catch up with him. Because in all of Andrew’s efforts to fit in, he’s forgotten one important thing: how to really live. And maybe, it’s finally time for him to start.

Please drop me a comment if you have read the book.

The Willoughby Book Club #7

Hello!

My latest book from Willoughby Book Club has arrived and I must admit I really miss the old wrapping paper, this new book sleeve is just not the same.

Anyway, the book I received was Invisible Women by Sarah Long. Another new author for me, I’m getting the opportunity to read so many new authors due to the book club, I love it!

Isn’t it about time we talked about YOU?

Tessa, Sandra and Harriet have been best friends through first crushes, careers, marriage and the trials of motherhood. After twenty years of taking care of everyone else’s every need, they’ve found themselves hitting the big 5-0 and suddenly asking themselves: ‘what about me?!’

Sandra has a sordid secret, and Harriet is landed with her ailing mother-in-law. Tessa is looking for something to fill the gaping hole left by her youngest daughter’s departure for uni, where it seems she’s now engaged in all sorts of unsavoury activities, if Tessa’s obsessive late-night Facebook stalking is anything to go by.

When Tessa impulsively responds to an online message from an old flame, she soon finds herself waiting at Heathrow Airport for The One That Got Away.

But what will the plane from New York bring her? The man of her dreams, or a whole heap of trouble?

And could this be the long-awaited moment for Tessa to seize her life, for herself, with both hands?

Drop me a comment if you have read the book.

The Willoughby Book Club #4

Hello!

Yesterday my fourth Willoughby Book Club arrived and this is the first one of the year’s subscription I paid for in the wonderful Black Friday deal.

I really need to get reading my Willoughby Book Club books so I think I will aim to read one a month so they don’t just sit there on the ever increasing TBR pile.

So here is my January book

Nina Cattermole had an unusual death: head-butted by a horse as she protested against the local Devon hunt. The official verdict? It was a freak accident. But when another hunt saboteur is found dead in a ditch on the day of Nina’s funeral, local DC Den Cooper is sent to investigate. It soon becomes clear that this is not another accident. Charlie Gratton has been trampled to death by a horse, the blows struck with such precision that they could only have been delivered by an animal under the control of an experienced rider. It seems that Charlie, a practising Quaker, has been murdered. As Den tries to solve the case he finds himself drawn in to an insular Quaker community and a village divided by loyalties and past misdeeds….

Another author I have not come across but the book does look exciting.

I still have a subscription code that will give you 10% off if anybody is interested. The link is here. The code expires on the 25th February 2021.

I am so excited to have a new mystery book each month for 2021 and I can tell it will be a nice surprise especially during lockdown.

Happy reading.

Hello!

So we have had our first day of lockdown, I will be honest it hasn’t been much different to my normal days. Studying with a little bit of online teaching thrown into the mix. However, I did have something which doesn’t happen everyday and that was my wonderful Willoughby Book Club delivery! I have been so excited about this delivery! I am so grateful to my amazing friend who got it for my birthday as it really is something to look forward to each month.

Here is my lovely book!

I’ve never come across this author or even seen this book before so I am rather excited to read it.

I think the thing I love most about getting a surprise book each month is the fact that I am getting to discover lots of new books and authors. It makes me leave my comfort zone and I think that is definitely a good thing.

Please drop me a message if you have read this book as I would love to hear your thoughts.

The Willoughby Book Club

I have some exciting news!

My friend bought me a three month subscription to The Willoughby Book Club. I have always wanted to be part of a book subscription service and now I am. I can’t wait to get my next box with a beautifully wrapped book inside. It will be the perfect present at the beginning of the month.

I have had my first book box and I must admit I was jumping around with glee. It arrived way before my birthday so my husband hid it from me as I was so desperate to open the box and see what my new book was.

I will keep you all posted on my future book box arrivals!

Please let me know if you have a favourite book box subscription or if you are a fellow member of The Willoughby Book Club.

Book Club

Hello!

I hope this post finds everyone safe and well.

So, since Monday we have been on lockdown but before this my husband and myself started self shielding from Wednesday last week as my health is not great, so other than going out for a walk each day and checking on our parents we have been at home. This has meant lots more reading, studying, music and just generally wondering what to do next. I have now started to write a daily To-do list!

However, before the self shielding a local independent bookshop that set up in the town where my sister lives announced they were planning on starting a Book Club. I was very excited about this because I’ve always wanted to join a Book Club but because of work etc I’ve never found one that I can actually get to. This Book Club was going to be on my day off though, so I was planning on joining. Then things got put on hold due to the present circumstances we all find ourselves in. However, I am pleased to announce the book shop has decided to set the Book Club up on Facebook and have accepted my request to join.

This wonderful book shop is called Wyre Forest Books which is in Bewdley, and I was so excited when it opened as some of my fondest memories as a child were visiting an independent book shop called Bewdley Books and sometimes following our visit with a visit to a little sweet shop, what could be better than books and sweets? So I made sure I visited the new book shop as soon as I could. Now I am very worried about this book shop and all independent book shops during this difficult time and want to do my part in keeping them going. However, I am also not currently working and as I am self employed not earning so fund wise I don’t really have many pennies to spare and have decided that if I want to buy a book I will use whatever Waterstones points I have. But to support Wyre Forest Books today I gave them a ring and ordered the first club book read and I plan on ordering all future Book Club reads from there, funds allowing.

So what is the book?

The book is Half a World Away by Mike Gayle

51PLJSeQLsL._SX332_BO1,204,203,200_.jpg

Strangers living worlds apart.
Strangers with nothing in common.

But it wasn’t always that way…

Kerry Hayes is single mum, living on a tough south London estate. She provides for her son by cleaning houses she could never hope to afford. Taken into care as a child, Kerry cannot ever forget her past.

Noah Martineau is a successful barrister with a beautiful wife, daughter and home in fashionable Primrose Hill. Adopted as a child, Noah always looks forward, never back.

When Kerry reaches out to the sibling she lost on the day they were torn apart as children, she sets in motion a chain of events that will have life-changing consequences for them both.

Mike Gayle was meant to be visiting Wyre Forest Books but has sadly had to cancel due to present circumstances but is planning to visit when hopefully normality returns. Hopefully I might get my copy signed!

So that is my exciting news! I will keep you updated about my Book Club adventures.

Here is the Facebook link to my little book shop Wyre Forest Books

My final word today though is support your local book shop if you can, let’s help keep them going so we have a wonderful shop to visit when all this is over and not another closed book shop never to return again. Order a book over the phone or online, buy a book voucher, anything to keep them going, and if you can’t support them financially give them a like and share on social media and show them some love. Thank you my fellow Book Dragons!

Please drop me a comment for a chat!

Stay safe everyone.
