What I have Recently Finished Reading

I thoroughly enjoyed this and could not put it down. My review will be posted soon.

What I Think I will Read Next

I’m not sure what I will read next but it might be one of these books. I definitely plan on reading Onyx Storm very soon.

Top 5 Tuesday: Top 5 authors I want to try in 2025

Top 5 Tuesday was created by Shanah at Bionic Book Worm, and now being hosted by Meeghan reads.

Hello!

I am absolutely loving the topics for Top 5 Tuesday at the moment and I just can’t help but take part as they are helping me narrow down a good TBR pile for 2025.

This year I really want to read different genres from my comfort zone and read as many different authors as possible. Already this month I have read two books from new to me authors and a genre I wouldn’t usually go near and I loved the books!

  • William – An Englishman by Cicely Hamilton was a Persephone book I bought just before Christmas. I love the Persephone books as they introduce me to so many authors I haven’t come across before.
  • The Princes in the Tower by Philippa Gregory has been sat on my TBR for way too long. I’ve always wanted to read a book by Gregory as I love her documentaries on TV.
  • The Help by Kathryn Stockett is another book that has been sat on my TBR for way too long.
  • Professor Alice Roberts is another favourite of mine in the documentary department so I think it is time I read one of her books.
  • Medea by Rosie Hewlett is a book that I picked up because it is about Medea and I haven’t read a retelling of her story before.

What are 5 new authors you plan to read in 2025?

Top 5 Tuesday was created by Shanah at Bionic Book Worm, and now being hosted by Meeghan reads.

Hello!

Today has been a great day for reading which has been lovely and I have made good progress with my current reads.

I am trying to be good this year with whittling down my TBR pile so I think this is good topic for me this week. These are 5 books I fully plan on reading this year.

I really want to read more Alison Weir this year and this is one of my planned reads. Harry Sidebottom and Rosie Hewlett are new authors for me so I am hoping I’m hoping I enjoy these books.

What are 5 books you plan to read in 2025?

Goodreads Monday: 20/1/2025

Goodreads Monday is now hosted by Budget Tales Book Club.  All you have to do is show off a book from your TBR that you’re looking forward to reading.

Hello!

I hope everyone has had a good start to the week so far.

My chosen book to feature this week is one that I actually stocked for my Etsy shop and really liked the sound of so I have also added it to my Goodreads TBR. I’m really looking forward to reading it soon.

The Paris Library by Janet Skeslien Charles

Paris, 1939: Young and ambitious Odile Souchet has it all: her handsome police officer beau and a dream job at the American Library in Paris. When the Nazis march into Paris, Odile stands to lose everything she holds dear, including her beloved library. Together with her fellow librarians, Odile joins the Resistance with the best weapons she has: books. But when the war finally ends, instead of freedom, Odile tastes the bitter sting of unspeakable betrayal.

Montana, 1983: Lily is a lonely teenager looking for adventure in small-town Montana. Her interest is piqued by her solitary, elderly neighbor. As Lily uncovers more about her neighbor’s mysterious past, she finds that they share a love of language, the same longings, and the same intense jealousy, never suspecting that a dark secret from the past connects them.

A powerful novel that explores the consequences of our choices and the relationships that make us who we are—family, friends, and favorite authors—The Paris Library shows that extraordinary heroism can sometimes be found in the quietest of places.

Hello!

I have had a fab day of teaching and reading. Wednesday is always a busy and long day but I have quite a few gaps of just half an hour which makes perfect reading time.

What I am Currently Reading

The buddy read of Unleashed is going really well and we have planned a weekend of double chapters as we are both wanting to read a bit whilst we have the extra time. I started Iron Flame this week and I can’t put it down. I have Onyx Storm preordered and I can’t wait for it to arrive.

What I have Recently Finished Reading

I am absolutely loving this series. My review will be posted very soon.

What I Think I will Read Next

As usual I have no idea what mood I will be in when I choose my next book but these are high contenders.

Please drop me a comment with your WWW Wednesday and I will head over for a visit.

Happy Monday!

I hope everyone has had a good start to the week. I have been back at school today which has been a bit of a shock to the system. I took my book to read between lessons so I did manage a little bit of reading which was nice.

My chosen book to feature this week is one that has sat on my TBR for quite a long time and I’m not sure why as I love the author.

The Mistletoe Bride and Other Haunting Tales by Kate Mosse

Rooted in the elemental landscapes of Sussex, Brittany and the Languedoc, here are tales of ghosts and spirits seeking revenge, grief-stricken women and haunted men coming to terms with their destiny.

January 2025 TBR

Hello!

I hope everyone has had a good start to the week so far. I’ve not managed any reading yet but I am hoping to do some reading later.

I currently have a huge pile of books on my landing which is one of my many TBR piles. I really want to reduce this pile so that is the inspiration for my January TBR.

I doubt I will manage to read all of these books but I’m hoping to make a reasonable dent in the TBR.

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a good New Year’s Eve. I’ve had a lovely day of reading today which has been bliss. I’m still reading my Christmas books until 6th January but I have also started my first buddy read of the year.

What I am Currently Reading

Unleashed by Boris Johnson is my buddy read and we are aiming for a chapter a day. I’m a bit dubious of A Christmas Ghost Story so far but I’m hoping it proves to be good.

What I have Recently Finished Reading

I have just finished my reread of the Hogfather by Terry Pratchett and absolutely loved it. My reviews of these books will be posted very soon.

What I Think I will Read Next

I have a huge pile of books sat on my landing and they are all TBR. I’m not sure what I will next but I’m very excited about these.

Goodreads Monday: 30/12/2024

Goodreads Monday is now hosted by Budget Tales Book Club.  All you have to do is show off a book from your TBR that you’re looking forward to reading.

Hello!

Apologies for the recent silence. Christmas is a really busy period for myself and my husband so I just decided to take a week off blogging and enjoy my free time reading Christmas themed books.

Welcome to my last Goodreads Monday of 2024!

My chosen books today is a recent buy but by one of my favourite authors which is now an auto buy author for me. I also have to catch up on her back catalogue as well.

The Seventh Veil of Salome by Silvia Moreno-Garcia

1950s Hollywood: Every actress wants to play Salome, the star-making role in a big-budget movie about the legendary woman whose story has inspired artists since ancient times.

So when the film’s mercurial director casts Vera Larios, an unknown Mexican ingenue, in the lead role, she quickly becomes the talk of the town. Vera also becomes an object of envy for Nancy Hartley, a bit player whose career has stalled and who will do anything to win the fame she believes she richly deserves.

Two actresses, both determined to make it to the top in Golden Age Hollywood—a city overflowing with gossip, scandal, and intrigue—make for a sizzling combination.

But this is the tale of three women, for it is also the story of the princess Salome herself, consumed with desire for the fiery prophet who foretells the doom of her stepfather, Herod: a woman torn between the decree of duty and the yearning of her heart.

Before the curtain comes down, there will be tears and tragedy aplenty in this sexy Technicolor saga.
