I have been thoroughly enjoying reading all about the local ghosts near me but I must admit the book does feel rather rushed for me.

What I have Recently Finished Reading

I really enjoyed this book and it has made me realise that I miss reading Dickens so it is high time I dug out my Dickens books and started reading them again.

What I Think I will Read Next

As per usual I am never quite sure what I will read next.

I hope everyone is having a good week so far. I have been really getting back into my reading this week and I have finally been catching up on my Goodreads Challenge.

What I am Currently Reading

I’m still chipping away at this and although I am really enjoying it and I love Beard’s writing I do have to read in short stints as there is a lot of information to absorb.

What I have Recently Finished Reading

This is my first Brian McGilloway novel and I enjoyed it so much I have bought the next two in the Ben Devlin series. Stefan Zweig was also another new author for me and one that I will happily read more of.

What I Think I will Read Next

My next book could be one of these but I also went on a little adventure at the beginning of the week and I purchased a lot of new books. I will tell you all about my adventures tomorrow.

We are halfway through the week. Yesterday I got loads of reading done as I didn’t have much teaching. Sadly, today will not contain much reading due to loads of teaching.

What I am Currently Reading

Still chipping away at SPQR, I very much doubt I will get it finished by the end of the month. Just started the Angela Carter yesterday, so far so good.

What I have Recently Finished Reading

I’ve had a busy week on the reading front. Wish You Were Dead was my first Peter James book and I will definitely be reading more of his books.

What I Think I will Read Next

I have so many books to choose from that I have no idea what I will read next but it will possibly be one of these books.

I hope everyone has had a good start to the week.

I haven’t taken part in a Goodreads Monday for a while so I decided it was high time I returned.

My chosen book this week has been inspired by a fellow bookstagrammar who is reading the novels by Angela Carter. I haven’t read any Angela Carter for years but I remembered I have a very beautiful copy of one her books sat on my bookshelf and I have dug it out to read next.

Once upon a time fairy tales weren’t meant just for children, and neither is Angela Carter’s Book of Fairy Tales. This collection contains lyrical tales, bloody tales and hilariously funny and ripely bawdy stories from countries all around the world – from the Arctic to Asia – and no dippy princesses or soppy fairies. Instead, we have pretty maids and old crones; crafty women and bad girls; enchantresses and midwives; rascal aunts and odd sisters.

I’m looking forward to reading this book because I love how different Angela Carter’s writing is. Thankfully, Carter doesn’t write about damsels in distress and pristine princesses, instead you get strong powerful women who stand no messing.

I’ve been thoroughly enjoying my reading this week. My main problem has been deciding what to read next.

What I am Currently Reading

I spent a lot of time reading SPQR yesterday as I am really getting into it now. I have just started In the Shadow of Queens, I have already read some of the short stories in this series but not many. I really like having them all in one book rather than lots of short stories on my kindle.

What I have Recently Finished Reading

I struggled a little bit with this Maigret book but on the whole it was typical eccentric Maigret.

What I Think I will Read Next

So many books to read and I have no idea what to choose next.

The dissertation is finished and submitted. This has resulted in more reading, yay! On Sunday I finished a book, read a whole book in one sitting and started another and it was bliss.

What I am Currently Reading

I’m about a quarter of the way through The Night Hawks and so far so good. I do enjoy reading a story about Dr Galloway.

What I have Recently Finished Reading

Two excellent books. The Carter of La Providence is the book I finished in one sitting.

What I Think I will Read Next

So many books, I’m not sure what I will choose next. I’m so happy to have more time to read but I also know I have a lot of jobs that I need to do now the dissertation is finished. Mainly housework and decorating.

I don’t seem to have stopped so far this week and today I am back teaching at school so I will most likely be an exhausted puddle on the floor by the end of the day.

What I am Currently Reading

SPQR is currently on the back burner at the moment but I am still reading a few pages occasionally. The King’s Seal is by destress read and I must admit I am finding it hard to put down.

What I have Recently Finished Reading

I have just recently finished this and although I did struggle with a few sections I have definitely got the bug back and will be reading more books from The Vampire Chronicles soon. Review

What I Think I will Read Next

So many books to choose from. My dissertation will be finished soon and that will mean lots of binge reading.

I have just started SPQR, I really enjoy Mary Beard’s writing, she is so informative but also fun to read. Prince Lestat continues and will be finished soon.

I have just finished this and really enjoyed it. A great book to dip into.

Usually I have many options as I am never sure what I will read next. This time though I know I will be reading this one because I have been desperate to read it.

Happy Monday! I hope everyone has had a good start to the week so far.

The book I have chosen to feature this week is one that I have recently ordered. I have read the previous books in the series and absolutely loved them so I am hoping the third instalment does not disappoint.

The search for the legendary ring of King Solomon has begun, and Penelope must sift through its long and convoluted history of lost emperors, crusaders, and other famous historical figures—including one with whom the magicians share their own complicated past— if she hopes to find it in time.

As Penelope’s magic continues to grow stronger with the coming high tide, she and Alexis will have to depend upon each other more than ever to keep everyone they care about safe from the continuing attacks by Thevetat’s priests.

When the magical high tide finally peaks, the long-awaited battle against Thevetat will begin, and Penelope, Alexis, and the magicians will have to rely on both powers of old and new if they hope to defeat their enemy once and for all.

Hopefully the book arrives soon as I really want this to be my next read.
