Friday Poetry: Derek Walcott

Happy Friday!

I hope everyone has had a good week and is looking forward to the weekend.

My chosen poem this week is by the Saint Lucian poet and playwright Derek Walcott (1930-2017).

Midsummer, Tobago

Broad sun-stoned beaches.

White heat.
A green river.

A bridge,
scorched yellow palms

from the summer-sleeping house
drowsing through August.

Days I have held,
days I have lost,

days that outgrow, like daughters,
my harbouring arms.

Derek Walcott

Happy Reading

If you enjoy reading my blog and would like to make a donation I would be very grateful. Thank you
