Top 5 Tuesday: Books I will Definitely Read in 2022

Top 5 Tuesday was created by Shanah at Bionic Book Worm, and now being hosted by Meeghan reads.

Hello!

I have not taken part in a Top 5 Tuesday for ages so I thought it was high time I returned.

2022 for me will hopefully involve reading more classics and finishing some of the many book series I have started and not finished. This means my 2022 TBR is rather large so I will do my best to select 5 books I will definitely read (I hope).

  1. Nemesis Games by James. S. A. Corey – This year I really want to finish The Expanse series and this is the next book to read in the series.
  2. Three Men in a Boat by Jerome K. Jerome – This book is on my Classics Club list and one that I think I might have read in the past and forgotten or started reading and never finished.
  3. The Great Hunt by Robert Jordan – In 2014 I read books 1-5 of The Wheel of Time series and then restarted and read books 1-3 in 2015. This year I have started at book one again and I determined this time I will finish the series. I’m never sure why I stop reading the books because I really love the series.
  4. Sovereign by C. J. Sansom – I love the Shardlake books and this is the next one I need to read. Again, another series I plan to finish this year.
  5. The Man in the Iron Mask by Alexander Dumas – Another book off my Classics Club list. I love The Three Musketeers so I hope I will enjoy this book.

Please drop me a link if you have taken part in Top 5 Tuesday and I will head over for a visit.

Hello!

I hope everyone is having a good week so far. I am back to work fully now but I am making sure I make plenty of time for reading.

What I am Currently Reading

I have almost finished this and I must admit I can’t wait to read the next book. I had forgotten what a great book this is.

What I have Recently Finished Reading

This wasn’t really a Christmas book as it was stories from the different seasons and only a couple of the stories were about Christmas. This was my first book by Laurie Lee but will definitely not be my last.

What I Think I will Read Next

I can’t wait to start reading some of the books off my list for The Classics Club but I also have The Witcher series to start as well.

Please drop me a comment with your WWW Wednesday and I will head over for a visit.

Really enjoyed both of these books. My review for Christmas with the Teashop Girls is here.

The Christmas reading continues.

Happy Wednesday!

I started my Christmas TBR today and I must admit I am getting rather excited about all the festive reads I have planned.

What I am Currently Reading

I’m still plodding along with SPQR but I am hoping to finish it before the end of the year. I started Christmas with the Teashop Girls on my lunch break today and so far so good.

What I have Recently Finished Reading

I usually really enjoy books by Jeffrey Archer but I will be honest I was rather disappointed with this read.

What I Think I will Read Next

Lots of Christmas reads to finish this December.

Goodreads Monday: 29/11/2021

Goodreads Monday is hosted by Lauren’s Page Turners.  All you have to do is show off a book from your TBR that you’re looking forward to reading.

Hello everyone!

This weeks choice of book is from my Christmas TBR pile again. The Christmas TBR has also grown by three books so it looks like I will have a busy December.

It is late 1940 and the war feels closer to home than ever for Rose Neville and her staff at the Lyon’s Teashop in Margate. The worry of rationing hangs overhead as the Nippies do their best to provide a happy smile and a hot cup of tea for their customers. When a heavy bombing raid targets the Kent coastline, Lyon’s is badly hit, throwing the future of the cafe into jeopardy.

The light in Rose’s life is her dashing fiancé Capt. Ben Hargreaves and planning their Christmas Eve wedding. But she must also plan to take two new step-daughters into her life and get on the right side of her wealthy mother-in-law, Lady Diana. Is Rose ready to become a mother so soon?

When Rose’s half-sister Eileen makes contact, it seems that Rose’s dreams of having a sibling are coming true at long last. But her friends begin to suspect that something is not right between Eileen and her husband: just what are they hiding?

As the Christmas Eve wedding draws near, the bombings intensify in Kent and London, putting everything and everyone Rose loves in danger. Only one thing is for sure: it will be a Christmas she never forgets . . .

I read another book by Elaine Everest last Christmas and really enjoyed it so I am hoping for an enjoyable read with this book as well.

Top 5 Tuesday: Books I Haven’t Read Yet in 2021

Top 5 Tuesday was created by Shanah at Bionic Book Worm, and now being hosted by Meeghan reads.

Hello!

I have not taken part in Top 5 Tuesday for months and months! I’m not sure why as I really love reading everyone’s posts each week.

There are a lot of books I planned to read in 2021 and have not managed to but I will choose the ones that I want to read the most.

  1. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid – This has been on my TBR for so long and yet still it remains unread. I really doubt I will get it read before the end of year but I live in hope.
  2. The Night She Disappeared by Lisa Jewell – I love Lisa Jewell and was very excited when I bought this book. Hopefully I will read it soon.
  3. Something to Live For by Richard Roper – This came as one of my books from Willoughby Book Club and I will be honest it wouldn’t have been a book I would have chosen myself but after reading the blurb and the reviews I really want to read it.
  4. The Dream Weavers by Barbara Erskine – This was one I found in Waterstones and I liked the look of.
  5. Troy by Stephen Fry – I have read many different translations of Homer’s Iliad over the years so it will be interesting to see what Stephen Fry has done with this wonderful classic.

Goodreads Monday: 22/11/2021

Goodreads Monday is hosted by Lauren’s Page Turners.  All you have to do is show off a book from your TBR that you’re looking forward to reading.

Hello!

I hope everyone has had a good start to the week so far.

The book I have chosen for my Goodreads Monday post this week is another book off my Christmas TBR list.

Midwinter. As snow falls softly outside and frost sparkles on tree branches, it’s time to curl up before a roaring fire, wrap your hands around a steaming mug of mulled wine, and forget your worries for now.

But as the temperature drops outside, malice is sharpening its claws … and murder walks abroad. In these classic stories of mystery and mayhem, let ten of the great crime writers in history surprise and delight you with twists and turns as shocking as an icicle in the heart.

Featuring stories by Dorothy L. Sayers, Cyril Hare, Anthony Berkeley, Ruth Rendell, Margery Allingham, Ellis Peters … and more.

I’ve read two of the books so far from the Murderous Christmas Stories Series and I have loved both of them. My dad is also a massive fan of the series. I’m really looking forward to reading this book in December and maybe a few more of the books from the series.

Please drop me a message if you have taken part in Goodreads Monday this week and I will head over for a visit.

Hello

I hope everyone has had a good week so far. I have been enjoying my reading and I will be honest I have already started listening to some Christmas music. I just couldn’t resist it any longer.

What I am Currently Reading

I haven’t read any Jeffrey Archer for a couple of years and I have forgotten just how much I enjoy his writing. SPQR is coming along, slow and steady is how I am reading it.

What I have Recently Finished Reading

Another Christie that I absolutely loved! Review

What I Think I will Read Next

I will be honest I am desperate to start some Christmas books so I might break my rule of no Christmas books till the 1st December and start next week.

Goodreads Monday: 15/11/2021

Goodreads Monday is hosted by Lauren’s Page Turners.  All you have to do is show off a book from your TBR that you’re looking forward to reading.

Hello

I hope everyone has had a good start to the week. I have had a gentle start with just a little bit of teaching so I have spent the rest of the day tidying and binning things. I’m not sure you can see any difference yet but hopefully I will make more headway tomorrow.

The book I have chosen for Goodreads Monday is one that is sat on my Christmas TBR pile and is one that I am planning on buddy reading with my best friend.

One boy and his toy are about to change everything…

Jack loves his childhood toy, Dur Pig. DP has always been there for him, through good and bad. Until one Christmas Eve something terrible happens — DP is lost. But Christmas Eve is a night for miracles and lost causes, a night when all things can come to life… even toys. And Jack’s newest toy — the Christmas Pig (DP’s replacement) — has a daring plan: Together they’ll embark on a magical journey to seek something lost, and to save the best friend Jack has ever known…

I’m really looking forward to reading this, especially as it is a buddy read as I do love a buddy read.

Hello!

I hope everyone is having a good week so far. I have sadly come down with a cold but I usually do this time of year due to teaching children. This means that all I really want to do is curl up with a mug of tea, a blanket and a good book.

What I am Currently Reading

I had a really good day reading SPQR yesterday while waiting for a very late delivery driver. I really enjoy Beard’s humour in this book, she makes history come to life. The Murder of Roger Ackroyd is brilliant and I just love reading about Poirot.

What I have Recently Finished Reading

Really enjoyed this but it did feel rather rushed at times and more like a big list rather than stories.

What I Think I will Read Next

So many books to read. I’m building a nice Christmas TBR for December as well. I just love Christmas books.
